Beit Hashita is the leading pickle factory in Israel. Since its establishment in 1938, the factory has evolved and today the brand name, Beit Hashita, is synonymous with quality, high standards and a variety of pickle products. Aiming to supply work to the members of the Kibbutz, the pickle factory of Kibbutz Beit Hashita was one of the first industrial ventures in the Jezreel Valley in general and in the Kibbutz Movement in particular. The Kibbutz members decided not to give in to the seasonality of agriculture and established a factory that could supply work to the members during the slow months of agriculture. Consequently, ten years after the founding of Kibbutz Beit Hashita, its members began to preserve olives and pickle cucumbers at the pickle factory that they had erected. Over the years, other vegetables were added to the range of products, such as the Shipka hot pepper, pickled eggplant, sauerkraut and a vegetable mix, this alongside the expansion of the variety of pickled cucumbers and olives. In 1998, Osem acquired 51% of the shares in the factory, merging into it the industrial activities of Assis. Since 2004, Beit Hashita factory is fully owned by Osem.
